Not so in the European leagues, where all Swiss teams but FC Basel (in the champs league) dropped out without even the slightest chance for qualification and the FC Basel has not yet won a single point in its three matches against Donetzk, Sporting and Barcelona (two games were lost at home, the last one with a brutal 0-5 against the artists from Barcelona). So yes, we had the Euro 2008 in our country. It was a great experience and a great tourney. Not for us Swiss though as our team played a terrible tournament, not counting the useless victory against the B-team from Portugal (and not for the Three Lions, that I missed the most!). The inevitable change was secured even before Euro 2008, as Ottmar Hitzfeld of Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund fame could be won as new head coach.
