South Africa return home to see off Thailand

World Cup 2010 hosts South Africa returned home from training camps in Germany and Brazil to beat a poor Thailand team 4-0, the match was held in the newly constructed Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. Putting aside head coach Carlos Alberto Parreira’s bizarre decision to take his squad to Europe and South America to prepare for the South African held tournament, his team totally outclassed their Thai opponents from start to finish. A Siphiwe Tshabalala free kick gave the hosts the lead, before Birmingham target Katlego Mphela scored twice before half-time. Substitute Bernard Parker scored in the 90th minute to wrap up the comprehensive win. Read more
