Why is McLeish still being backed by top clubs?

Monday, February 13th, 2012, 4:46 pm

At the start of last season, Alex McLeish suggested that he had fashioned the Birmingham side in his image, and that absolutely nobody bar him could be blamed should the team fail to achieve success at the top level.

Although his vision turned, very briefly, into victory after a horrendous last minute error by the leaky Arsenal defence handed the Carling Cup to Birmingham, that was the last time the Birmingham fans thanked the gods for having McLeish as their manager, with his ‘vision’ falling apart in dramatic style to leave Birmingham relegated from the Premier League, financially bankrupt, and fighting for their very survival. Those who bet on football will know how bad things are.

Bizarrely, the man who was ultimately responsible for the demise of Birmingham refused to step down, claiming that it wasn’t his fault and asking for more time and more chances.

In this scenario, normally the fool is laughed off the stage, but on this rarest of occasions, the most bitter and hated rival of the fool’s club chose to leap in and save him, offering McLeish the managerial position at a club he had once had been forced to pretend to hate. http://betting.betfair.com/football/champions-league-betting/

With all this in mind, it is clear that the Villians realise that they have appointed a man who was never going to do a good job for the club, and are suffering as a result as they languish near the bottom of the Premier League. If McLeish once again gets the sack at the end of the season, or even sooner, do we really have to assume that he will be handed another chance in the Premier League, or will we see him get what he deserves, no longer being trusted with any kind of management position?
