Redknapp Looking At Scholes For England!

Monday, February 13th, 2012, 2:56 pm

Harry Redknapp is the odds on favourite to be the next England manager with stan james betting  and bwin bookmakers, and it seems that the Spurs boss is already making plans for when he takes over the reigns of managing his country.

Redknapp who has himself had a very tough couple of weeks with his court trial, saw his team put 5 goals past an in form Newcastle side at White Hart Lane at the weekend, to put an end to Redknapp’s difficulties.

As one door was slammed shut for Redknapp which he will be glad to see the back of, another one has duly opened with Fabio Capello leaving his England post prematurely.

The nation knows Redknapp will be the next England manager, and White Hart Lane know that too as they sang Redknapps name for almost the full game, as they don’t want to see their manager go.

Redknapp has said that he want’s to see Spurs out until the end of the season as they are in the hunt for the Premier League title, and he loves the club which is clear for all to see. But he has hinted at some of the changes he might make when he does indeed takeover the England job.

Paul Scholes has been in great form since he came out of retirement last month and rolled back the years in United’s victory against Liverpool on Saturday as he controlled the game in midfield. Gerrard and co couldn’t get near the ‘ginger wizard’ as United won 2-1. It was Scholes’ fourth start in as many weeks, proving that he still has what it takes to be at the top, as he outshone arguably England’s best midfielder in Steven Gerrard!

And Redknapp admits he would love to take Paul Scholes to Euro 2012 if he takes over as England manager and believes the 37-year-old, who retired from international duty in 2004, could still have a major impact for his country at the very top level.

Redknapp said: “You’d love to have Paul Scholes in the Euros this year.

“He’d be in your team, he’s that good. You’d love him to play.

“He plays like a Spaniard – he can play like Xavi, like Iniesta, he doesn’t give the ball away.”

Redknapp says he would also consider appointing his current Spurs midfielder Scott Parker as England skipper should he take over.

“Scotty could do it for sure, so could Steven Gerrard,” he said.

“Scotty is a fantastic boy, he’s a family man, he loves his football, he trains well, he plays well, he gets on with the job, he’s not a minute’s problem.

“He’s not a Billy big-time. He’s just a great boy and that’s what you need in your football club if you’re going to do anything.”

These are interesting thoughts from the Spurs manager. He has already said that it would be difficult to do the two jobs at the same time but it sounds like he is already making plans for the future!
