Villarreal finally win

Villarreal finally ended a two-month winless run by recording an important 3-0 victory over Sporting Gijon in the Primera Liga relegation clash. The two sides had both gone into the match drastically needing the three points as the duo bid to start climbing the table and away from the threat of relegation.
Despite controlling the first-half at El Madrigal, Villarreal failed to breach a stubborn Sporting defence – who were doing all they could to repel wave upon wave of attack from the hosts – until the 57th minute, when Marco Ruben was in the right place at the right time to slot home. Those following the Betfair La Liga betting will have been impressed.
Former West Brom midfielder Borja Valero doubled the score shortly after with a lovely finish, a goal which effectively ended Sporting’s chances of getting back in the game. Bruno Soriano made it 3-0 in injury time to add some gloss to the result, giving Jose Molina the first victory of his tenure at the club in his third game since taking over.
The result meant Villarreal crept out of the bottom three courtesy of goal difference, although, it’s still a long way away from their fourth place finish last season. This victory could be the catalyst that the club needed to start putting together a winning run capable of dragging themselves way clear of the relegation zone. Fans of Betfair sports betting tips should bear this in mind.
Molina has managed to install some much needed confidence back into this Villarreal squad, but will need to maintain this level of performance if they are to return to a position more befitting of their stature.
Sporting’s chances this season appear to be getting slimmer, game-by-game, and this latest defeat sees them 19th in the table and in a real battle to avoid slipping out of the Primera Liga unless they can find some form, and find it quick.
