2010 – 2011 Season Sponsorships

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010, 3:36 pm

Brighton & Hove Albion

Well, it’s nearly that time again, the merry-go-round of new signings and players departing, I guess it’s been business as usual for Brighton. Once again we’re disappointed as our sponsored player, Andrew Crofts leaves Brighton for pastures new at Norwich City. Andrew had a great season with us last year, was made club captain. At the end of season dinner for the sponsors we chatted over dinner about the up-coming season, about the new Brighton stadium at Falmer, and about the fact he thinks sometimes his wife loves their pet cats more than him (thanks to my wife for starting that conversation!). At the end of the meal, he posed with us for photos and handed over his match shirt from the season, little did we know he was soon to be snapped up by the Canaries.

So we waited to see who was going to sign to replace Crofty, and soon the announcement that Matthew Sparrow was joining the Albion from Scunthorpe was made, and so for the 2010-2011 season www.oldfootballshirts.com will be sponsoring Matt’s home playing kit.

And to round it off with Brighton we are delighted to be associated with the unofficial Brighton & Hove Albion radio station, The Albion Roar, which broadcasts every Saturday at midday (UK) on Radio Reverb, Brighton’s community radio station. You can listen here or subscribe to the podcast at iTunes.

Newport County

What can be said of Newport County and Craig Reid last season? Craig finished the 2009-10 season as Conference South top scorer with 24 goals, Newport were crowned champions with a record 103 points, 28 points ahead of second placed Dover Athletic! And better still, Craig was named Blue Square South Player of the Year.

In December www.oldfootballshirts.com were match sponsors at the Newport Stadium for the Dorchester City game, a memorable day, a 3-0 win with Craig on the scoresheet, and capped with an evening in the pub with the County Chairman, Chris Blight, and friends! We also extended our support to Newport by sponsoring the matchball for the last homegame of the season against Dover Athletic. We are delighted to remain Craigs kit sponsor for next season, who knows, another promotion season perhaps?
