Good day all,

Football season is ending everywhere now and we have seen some interesting football in and around Switzerland. Here in my little country not the seemingly superiority of the FC Basel won the title. No, its big rival from Zurich, the FC Zurich, won the Swiss Axpo Super League. My home club, Young Boys Bern just made it to the second place with a big win in the last round against Basel (0-3) with Basel ending on 3rd and winning no title at all (the Cup went to the FC Sion).

A bit up north the famous FC Bayern Munich had something of a soap opera season with lots of argumentation in the daily press (the club is also called FC Hollywood). With only 5 rounds remaining, Jurgen Klinsmann (once player for Tottenham) was relieved of its position as manager but it was too late. Bayern ended up 2nd while the Vfl Wolfsburg won its sensational first title as German champion. It seemed possible at the start of the season but no one really believed it until the very end. Here as in Switzerland, the big one didn’t win any title at all in 08/09.VfB Stuttgart finished 3rd by the way.

Even more exciting was the French ligue 1 finishing today^with some sort of a climax. For the first half of the season Olympique Lyon was in front and it seemed as if they’d win their 8th consecutive title when it all changed during the second half suddenly with about five teams to be able to win the championsship. For now it looks as if Girordins Bordeaux will take it home as they have a comfortable 3 points lead before the last round followed by Olympique Marseille (which looked like the sure winner some some matchdays before). Big disappointment in the south of France after many seasons without a title when they lost an important homegame against Lyon.
