Player sponsorships league table – 22 Feb 09

So, it’s been a couple of weeks, lots of football played, all manner of developments at our clubs.
Let’s start with Newport County, following the launch of The Newport County AFC Supporters Trust, a limited edition shirt was launched, each one numbered 1-100, with proceeds form the sale of each shirt being passed to the manager for player funding. Well, we have upped that, and for every on of the shirts added to Newport County Shirts on OFS we will contribute another £5 to the fund. Sadly on the pitch it has not been perfect for the Exiles, with one win at Bognor and two losses against Maidenhead and Bromley in the past couple of weeks.
Brighton have been all over the show recently. With shocking performances on the pitch, the heartbreak of missing out on a Wembley final in the JPT Trophy, and then the sacking of Micky Adams, the manager, all those new signings weren’t doing a lot, then we had a great day out at Millwall yesterday, and an Adam Virgo goal gave us the three points!
Bangor have not recorded a win since the terrible news that they won’t be able to play in the IFA Premiership next season, a shame as they were going so well. Our sponsored player, Andrew Plummer, has moved to Glenavon till the end of the season, so we are pleased to add Ryan Brown as our second player at Bangor.
Annan Athletic have had a draw and a win since the last blog, at Stenhousemuir and Forfar Athletic respectively, Ryan Adamson featured in both games as a substitute, can’t be long before he makes a few starts.
Carmarthen have been going great guns recently, beating Bangor City and Caersws and drawing with Port Talbot. Our Craig Hughes has hit 7 goals in his 6 games so far for them, and with this climb up the Principality Welsh Premier League, European football beckons for next season, we at Oldfootballshirts.com are looking forward to a European footie trip soon!
So, here is the table as of 22 Feb 2009

With Brighton propping up that table, I don’t imagine we’ll be sponsoring a game there next season, looking like a trip to South Wales to me. We’ll average out the points at the end of the season, taking into account the different sizes of the leagues and games played.
All the best
