Soon the Swiss football season takes its break – sometimes we have a bit of snow here and it’s not that easy to play football on a snowy ground. Thats probably the reason why we are better in skiing than the British!

So far it’s been a very interesting season with two teams ahed of the rest. The FC Basel may have a bit of a reputation in Europe, though it’s been quite a while since they were sucessful on the European level really. Here they do not have but one real opponent and for the time being that is the FC Zurich. Zurich is on 1. place at the moment with a 1 point lead. Basel is still able to get the unofficial title of the autumn champion, as we call it. But they do not dominate the others as expected. Not happy people in Basel at the moment.

A bit behind those two teams is the BSC Young Boys Bern, followed by GC Zurich and Aarau.

We do have a funny situation in our AXPO Super League: the FC Vaduz, which is from Liechtenstein, is the first every non-Swiss club to participate in the 1. Division. Before they played in 2. Division and for a long time in 3. Division. When they won the title in 2. Division and qualified to play out for the 1. Division, the teams of the Super League had to decide whether they would accept Vaduz in their championship or not. They agreed. Vaduz is second to last at the moment, not really performing well – and they do not have a support in their home stadium. It’s a pitty really.
