The Night of the Games

Friday, November 21st, 2008, 2:46 pm

Ah well, so many interesting football matches last Wednesday! What to watch? England certainly - yes, I’m Swiss, but hey, I am a huge fans of the three lions!!! And what a great victory it was… it’s about time to almost forget about that terrible defeat at Wembley in 2007! Joachim Loew’s Germany was bland, pretty useless. Never been a fan of Mr. Ballack, but he was kind of missed really.

Then of course I watched the Swiss victory against Finland. Kind of lucky really and a boring, boring game. But three victories in a row, we don’t have that very often! Looking forward to coming March, when the Hitzfeld team has to proof itself in the world cup qualifications - there’s no game to loose anymore.

My girlfriend is a fan of the French team, so we watched a bit of that one too. 0:0 it was against Uruguay (ah, what terrible, terrible away shirts they have!) .What we saw of that game was not very satisfying.

Uruguay do seem to have a fair selection of Retro replica shirts avaialable, take a look at these.

But I have found these Uruguay away shirts, best get in quick if you want them!

Took a look to our friendly neighbour Austria as well, coached by former Czech coah Brueckner. They lead 1:0 against Turkey (in white and light blue - funny looking). Next time I switched to the Austrian TV-channel it was 1:3. Oh well. They lost 2:4 and it must have been quite a confusion in their defense as far as I could read in the newspapers.

The Netherlands. 3:1 against Sweden (in their fantastic looking deep blue away Umbro shirts, have to buy that one!). Impressive effort once again by the Dutch team, very impressive.

It was a nice one, that night!
