Oldfootballshirts.com Player Sponsorship League table Season 08-09.
For a bit of fun I am running an Oldfootballshirts.com League table for the 4 teams we now sponsor. We’re doing this for the entire seasons league results only, we sponsor players kits for Brighton, Newport County, Annan Athletic & Bangor FC.
Updated 18 November 2008

No luck for The Albion this weekend, a long trip to Carlisle and a 3-1 defeat. The manager Micky Adams was quick to criticise claiming the players let themselves down, let’s hope for better things against Hartlepool United on Tuesday night in the FA Cup replay. And then back to winning ways on Saturday home to managerless Huddersfield, a blessing or a curse, we’ll see.
Newport County were unlucky to come away from Havant & Waterlooville away on Saturday with only 1 point, leading until the 87th minute before Havant scored the equalising goal, 1-1. Craig Hughes was back in the line up, good to have him back?
Bangor got back on the points trail, with a hard fought 0-0 away at Crusaders,
“Bangor came away from Seaview with a well deserved point - but might well feel disappointed not to have claimed all three. Against the league leaders Bangor were on top for long periods but couldn’t find the breakthrough to take home all three points against a misfiring Crusaders side.” (from the Match report by Neil Watson)
Andrew Plummer had plenty to do and it’s a warm welcome back to the side for defender Jim McMenamin, with the cup 0-0 on Wednesday and this result, that’s 2 games and two clean sheets he and Andrew have contributed to.
Annan Athletic returned to winning ways with an away result 1-0 at Albion Rovers.
“Annan Athletic at last gave their loyal band of supporters something to cheer after a miserable runoff defeats came to an end at windswept Cliftonvil on Saturday. Annan put their run of six consecutive defeats behind them after defeating Albion Rovers courtesy of a superb 12minute Mike Jack strike. It was the only goal in a match described by Albion Manager Paul Martin as an ugly match but for Annan manager Harry Cairney and his Annan team it was a welcome result to lift the spirits” (from the match report by ATI)
Three Points desparately needed, who cares how ugly it was!
An improvement for most, Bangor sitting pretty, but a run from Annan would see them right back up there. Here is the table as it stands today;
