A look at the German Bundesliga shirts!

The Bundesliga season in Germany is still quite fresh. But there’s a lot going on. Some may remember Juergen Klinsmann of Tottenham Hotspur fame and his new job as headcoach of Bayern Munich. Today he and his promising ensemble of stars like Toni, Ribery and Klose lost its second game (1:0 in Hannover). After 6 matches they lost as many as last season in total: 2 games. Way to go, Juergen…!
But let’s have a look at some of the new shirts of the Bundesliga. My favourite home shirt is Borussia Dortmund’s yellow/black from Nike. I find it quite a well done, simple design, nonexaggerated. Even the red ad comes off okay:
Another quite successful design is Eintracht Frankfurt’s home shirt (by Jako) with the flame or flash like, black inlays framed with a fine red line:
Another runner-up is Bayer Leverkusen’s home shirt by adidas. Leverkusen often showed up with some of the most boring shirts, it’s quite refreshing to see such a nice shirt in the ranks of the “Werkself”. Agreed, the ad is terrible!
Not very special for its diversity but featuring a lovely idea: the Vfl Wolfsburg home shirt. The ad “Ein Herz fuer Kinder” means “A heart for children” and is a welfare organsation. A very nice idea! Usually Volkswagen is the main sponsor of Wolfsburg.
And how about the Klinsmann club Bayern Muenchen? Here it is, the new home shirt from Adidas. It’s not very different from last year’s design and no, it’s not really a favorite of mine.
Next time will take a look at the most boring Bundesliga 08/09 home shirts and the finest away and third shirts. There are some really nice ones so stay tuned.
